GET GONE
The Beginning of an End to a Beginning
by Eduardo

   Saturday
"Morning Dad."   Came this mornings cheerful greeting.
"Hi Son. Lets get showered and off to the hairdressers then."
We readied ourselves like two bachelors preening themselves before going out and setting off to Feltham. There's a very good unisex salon there and we have been several times before.
When we go in, there seems all new ladies working there and Liam was happy when the gorgeous one wearing pink washed his hair. I'm sure he enjoyed that experience but no so much the older one who cut his hair afterwards.
"A minger." is apparently the in word for ugly chicks amongst his mates and that's what he reckoned of her.
Me I get this quite good looking thirties something that's separated from hubby who lives in Africa.
So the conversation was flowing very well when she found out I was living alone. I got the phone number anyway. Whether I will bother to ring who knows, there appears to be a daily stream of choice at the moment.

After emerging looking like a couple of smart lads it was off to eat somewhere and a quick look in a shop for table clothes, which we don't have anymore.  Then on to Eliza's flat to visit and hang the pictures.
Liam sat and quietly enjoyed some pistachio nuts while I hammered a few picture hooks in and that was that.  No point in hanging around so we left her to it, still with boxes and stuff littering everywhere. On the way home, Liam was very quite and I don't think he feels any big desire to go back there again, at least for a while.

Back home Liam disappeared to read and play Runescape.  He needs a little space right now and time to himself in between outings, so I left him alone and went down to check the emails.
In amongst the cluttered inbox, I caught sight of one with Malindi Kenya in the subject and clicked to open while holding my breath.  It was Evelyn reply to my email and not exactly what I had come to expect.   I think maybe all Eliza's ravings about blacks and JuJu etc and how she only wanted to take over and move the whole family in, had tainted my opinion of Evelyn a little and maybe I did not place due respect as before to her.  After all I had asked her to be a sugar daddies girl, rather cheaply.  So her very honest and serious reply really jolted me, it goes like this;

Hi.
I am sorry to know Eliza has left you, it must be hard for you. Yes I will come back to work for you now the house is peaceful and no more devils.
We can talk about it when you come to Kenya. I will come to hotel in Mombassa to meet you.

As for the other things you mention.  I don't know, you are a lovely man and feel you could be my best friend in the whole world.  But could you ever really love me?  That's what a woman needs from a man.  I don't need a sugar daddy as you call it, I only need my man to be faithful and love me.  That's all I need.
If you think you could love and be that man then maybe I will accept. or I say no, but work for you as maid.
Say hello to Liam, he is such a great kid and you must be proud.
email be back when you coming to Mombassa
luv
evelyn

So there it is my answer.  I have a maid, but the other?  That really blew me.  It has suddenly hit me that this young lady black, white, tribal or western, expects only the basic requirements established in her strict Christian upbringing.  She has a very simple and transparent desire, to have a man who will love and be faithful to her. Thinking back on my time in Africa, that was something of a rarity for most African women.  It was more like marry the woman to clean, cook and provide money for the so called man to go off to the pubs and brothels. Hence why some villages have been nearly wiped out with aids.
Now I understand why my friend George had chosen his young lady with similar basic easy to please needs.  If this girl only wants something that simple, I can provide adequately with bucket loads's left over.  In return, I know her response will be total commitment to her man, whom she would defend or die for.  That's the way with such women from what I have seen throughout life.  Some change to what I've been used to, that's for sure.
Could I actually love her?   That question is of no concern to me as it would not be necessary.  My natural self is a loving and kind man, who believes in being faithful to those who deserve.   So just being me will more than satisfy her desires.   I know that in certain other departments, I can send her to a different planet every night.   So by night her dreams are answered and by day she has a man to look up to and respect, who she knows is faithful to her.  I can do that.
So the future is really looking orange.

I printed out the email and took it straight in to show Liam as he keeps asking if she has replied. I watched as he read it all and saw first the warm smile change into happy amazement as he got to the end.
He looked up at me all happy and said.
"That's it then.  She said yes."
"Well, not quite."   I replied.
"Yeah, but you can do all that easy.  So she will say yes.   You going to email her back and say you will?"
"I need to think about it a little."   I said.   "Its come as a bit of a surprise to me as its not what I thought she would say.  Anyway, there's a lot of time between now and then."
"And you have a date tomorrow night as well."  he reminded me.
"Yes I have and one of several I hope."   Came my happy reply.

Liam went back upstairs all happy and I back to the office until the belly rumbles reminded me of food.  Liam was of same mind, so we decided to try the cinema again and set off  for hopefully a good film and bag of popcorn.  Seems it must be Bollywood week though as not much was available to watch so it was off to Frankies and Bennies again for a steak.
We stuffed ourselves and Liam had a huge dessert, while I settled for a glass of cider.  Towards the end, the lady from the night before appeared, but behind the grill counter so we never got to speak.  She saw us though and waved very cheerily and kept looking our way.
We left feeling much better and drove home.  When we arrived the boy from next door was kicking a football around so Liam joined him.
I looked in next doors front garden and everyone is on the porch, obviously in the party spirit. I suggested bringing a bottle and made immediately welcome.  The two boys wanted to play and I felt like partying anyway, so bottle and I entered.  We all had a great laugh and ended up round the corner for last orders at the bar.  Liam was indoors with his friend and said go Dad, as I was not sure about leaving him even if for twenty minutes.  Its very much a family orientated environment around here and quite safe for the kids, who are always out either on the front or at the huge park behind us.

By the time we arrived back, I was really starting to feel it.   At least a bottle of wine had slipped down the throat and the head was feeling very woozy, so I said goodnight and went indoors.
Liam was just finishing the game with his mate and seeing him out.  He was obviously pleased to see me so jolly for a change, the night had done us both a lot of good.  Then we both hit the sack and crashed out.
