GET GONE
The Beginning of an End to a Beginning
by Eduardo

  Friday.
I briefly stirred this morning at seven as Jina gave me a gentle kiss and went downstairs to get ready for work the other side of London at nine. I heard nothing more as snuggling into the pillow, I drifted straight back to oblivion until nine.

After a shower and coffee, it was down to doing some writing and work. Its now two in the afternoon and Liam will be here soon and staying for the whole week on school holidays. Thought we might drive up to the Lake District on Tuesday and stay overnight for last time in the Chevy, then maybe a day out with Bella and her daughter somewhere like Thorpe Park and swimming on another day. Another day car shopping and traveling around and of course, Runescape should fill up our free time and I am looking forwards to it.

Apart from a text from Eliza reminding me about the car, it was a quite day. Liam arrived home around four thirty and was so happy to see the parrot in the cage on the middle of the lawn, basking in the sun. He went straight up to her and sticking a finger in, she did not object to him tickling her cheek feathers. I still cant believe how tame this baby parrot is becoming. I put my hand in and lifted her gently out, while she sat on my finger, Liam tickled her and she seemed quite happy with the attention for a while.
We had just settled down and I was having a cuppa, when Eliza phoned asking if I could come round to the flat as something bad had happened and she needed my help. I looked at Liam and we decided to pop in before we went shopping for food at Sainsbury's. We were both curious to know what was up.

When we arrived and she asked me in, she must have said something to Liam quietly at the door as he asked for the keys and wanted to wait in the car. I thought at first that he was rejecting mum, but what happened next I was totally unprepared for.

She showed me to the bedroom where whatever needed my urgent attention was. I said as I followed her.
"Don't know exactly what I can do about anything as its the landlords responsibility."
"Oh he's not here." She replied.

When we got to the bedroom, I stood by the bedside looking around. Still unaware of where the problem was. That soon became apparent as Eliza pushed me backwards onto the bed.
What followed I find too embarrassing to write, for I don't think Eliza is thinking or acting straight.
In a nutshell, she wanted us back together, but of course, with her still maintaining her in dependant lifestyle.
I kept repeating to her that our relationship was over and felt so awkward.
Eventually I managed to turn her over and stood up. Her words still continued about having me back and she loved me really, etc, etc.
I explained again and again, that was all decided before all this happened and there was no way back. Never. And she knew that. I again told her that yes, I could have spent a couple of grand and made her sweet for two months, as I've done countless times before. But what was the point, she would just repeat the whole thing again and again. She looked at me, realising the truth of my words.

I managed to eventually calm her, though whether she understood, I don't know. The doorbell rang and broke the pressure, it was Liam. I said goodbye and hurriedly left, feeling my emotions is a state of total confusion once more. As Liam and I went down in the lift, he told me he had not gone to the car at all, but listened to everything outside the flat door. That made me feel really bad as I have always tried to protect him from her more crazy moments or words.
"Don't worry Dad." he consoled me. "I heard mum, and you can be upset if you want. Its all right."
"What, you heard all of it?" I asked.
"Lets just say more than enough." He replied, looking deeply concerned as his still immature brain tried to fit the pieces together and failed.

I felt it best to change subjects about our shopping and got him thinking if anything else other than what was on the list was needed. That worked until we got home and he asked.
"Is Evelyn going to come or not?"
"Yes she is son." I replied, somewhat surprised by his question at that moment.
"Good." He replied, "Because its different without a mum here, and we need a woman in the house."
"What fed up with the bachelors life already are you son?"
"No, its just we need and you need someone else around." He replied in great seriousness.
I can see exactly how his mind is working. He has heard his mum over the years and more recently and obviously decided, dad would be happier with another less demanding woman. Now that Eliza has gone, he not only wants a replacement for the Mum he could never understand. He also wants his Dad to be happy and knows that another woman could do that. It seems everyone wants me hitched or married off to someone, while me, I'm quite happy as I am with nice casual relationships.
As I have told him Bella is out of the question, I think he is resting all hopes now on Evelyn coming back and filling that void at least for me. That is still not certain though, she will come back to be housekeeper, yes. That way she can finish her dream, but for her and I? I know her family have old fashioned distrust towards me and have obviously told her that I am in it for a quick fling and she would be stupid to trust me as I would just dump her later.
Nothing can be further from the truth, but convincing her may not be possible as she is an 'all or nothing' type person who has been brought up with strict family ideals.

Looks like being a busy weekend and week. Have arranged to pop round to Bella's tomorrow for a tea and let the kids have a play and maybe go to the cinema later to see the latest Pirates of the Caribbean. Then Sunday, meeting up with Angelina and the children for a picnic somewhere. After which, Liam and I have tickets to the Richmond theatre for Sunday evening. Next week we intend to drive to the Lake District for a day, Thorpe Park another day and go swimming as well. I need to keep Liam's mind occupied, especially after the visit to mum's earlier.
