GET GONE The Return As we pulled into the impressive Bamburi beach hotel courtyard,
a group of Massi warriors performed the entertainment. You would think
their legs were pogo sticks to see them jump so high. Truly amazing. It was still only 11 in the morning, so we unpacked and set off exploring the complex, avoiding the manager who wanted to give us a personal tour. This place is an eaters paradise as there is always food cooking somewhere. In between the three main restaurant meals, a separate bistro and grill caters for any peckish guests. Food and drink are available anywhere at any time in this place. When we saw the pool, it was impressive. Where the stage used to be until two years ago, a new pool had been built and sculptured into the existing pool, with a bar and patio in the middle. All set in a grove of coconut trees overlooking miles of golden beach and the ocean. Liam had already put shorts on and into the pool he went. It was so good to see him so happy after all the upset he has suffered during the past few months. After the dip he dried off and joined my on the bar patio. There
was a new excitement taking place now as I had let him into the secret
about Evelyne before we arrived. She was arriving later that day at around
two and staying with us for the holiday. As we entered the reception area we both were lost in eying the
surrounding water features. Huge stones and old fossilised tree trunks
set into a stream flowed all around the vast space. It was so real you
would almost expect to see a crocodile or two, or maybe a Rhino! We were
so engrossed that we didn't see the petite figure checking in at the
desk. It was not long before they were both in the pool larking about
and joining in the pool football event. I sat there, sipping at a Martini
observing the happiness of it all. To see him so happy with the woman
who i was about to give a third degree interrogation to, made me question
for a moment whether I needed to find out so much about her. He was still
bonded to her just the same as back in 2003 when he first met her. Even
now, he only allows his dad to give him hugs, always shying away from
relatives giving him a hug, even his Mum. But with this lady, its like
they were sister and brother and had been since birth. He has often said
he would like a sister, well he's got his wish and to see them so happy
makes me happy. I hope the triangle can be complete and I will be doubly
happy, but it was early days yet. I needed to study the two of them together
and interaction all together as a family group, But even more so, I
needed to know a lot more on what made this young lady tick, where she
was coming from and where she expected to go and, that was going to take
time. Wednesday awoke to my birthday and two lovely cards from Evelyne and her family. As I propped myself up in bed on one elbow and gazed at the brilliant sunshine reflecting on the calm ocean, I knew this was going to be the best birthday of my life. As I laid there gazing, Eve came out of the shower and I could see the beads of water glistening on her soft dark skin. I watched her petite towel wrapped body as she crossed to the dresser and wondered if this was really real for a while. So decided a shower would wake me up. The day went so smoothly as we enjoyed the food and fun on offer.
We all had lots of time for chatting about many important things and
by the end of day two, I was feeling quite comfortable about the way
life was developing. Took Liam off for some jet skiing and left Eve chatting with a German family. It gave Liam and I chance to talk about things. He asked had we 'you know' yet and I said maybe tonight was the night. That seemed to make him happy as he feels after that, we shall be together always. Its a nice simple and pure child logic, you only have sex when in love and it should mean the start of long term relationships or marriage. We all seemed much closer that day, like a family in fact. Liam played with her and even wanted a kiss goodnight from her after my hug, before laying his worn out body down to sleep. Yes, tonight was definitely the night. I would cross that barrier
and find the final answers I needed. For tomorrow, my family
friends would be back from Malindi and there would be much to discuss
about the future. They know of Evelyne and no doubt now know she
is here at the hotel, so it could get a little heavy. But she has
already managed to warm my uncle Romano's heart. So he's on my
side anyway.
